We're pleased to offer for sale this absolutely wonderful antique 18th century English Georgian period Chippendale yew wood linen press. We're loaded to bear with new inventory and working hard to get everything processed and brought to market. This yew linen press was a refreshing find to say the least. Each year we see less and less of these. It seems once they're put in a collection they tend to remain there for a substantial amount of time.
We commonly see these used in modern interiors as wardrobes, tv cabinets, linen storage, etc. This cabinet features a 2 over 2 lower drawer format on a bracket base. We note some small losses along the molded drawer faces. Truly not an issue at all on a cabinet of this age but it's our responsibility to disclose any "defects" no matter how inconsequential they may be. Please take a moment to review in the photos. This linen press is an absolute case study in early joinery and construction. The paneled doors are hand chamfered with tenoned and pegged joints. They open to reveal two interior shelves which could easily be removed if you require to use this at it's full storage capacity. This is without a question one of the best English Linen presses being offered anywhere for sale in the country. For every example we find in yew we'll find 10 Mahogany examples making this in our eyes more desirable and scarce. The cabinet measures 47 1/2" wide x 22" deep x 73 1/2" tall.
