Bay Colony Antiques is proud to offer for sale this fantastic and unusual 18th century antique New England Queen Anne ladder back armchair. The chair has a 4 slat back and a stable splint seat woven with a herringbone pattern. The arms have a slender, sweeping curve and end in big blocked out knuckles and are peg joined into the rear stiles and front posts with the initials WF carved into one arm. A lot of these chairs have been shortened because over time the ends wear out or break and they’re often cut down. This chair has been maintained correctly and instead of cutting the chair down the rear legs were restored many years ago and the chair was repainted with a really sweet red over yellow paint. The chair has a 7 stretcher base with the two front ones having bulbous turnings and the chair is nice and sturdy & ready for immediate use. The chair measures 22 1/2” wide x 20” deep x 44 1/4” tall with a seat height of 17”.
