18th C Antique Massachusetts Mahogany Bow Front Dresser / Chest of Drawers
18th C Antique Massachusetts Mahogany Bow Front Dresser / Chest of Drawers
With our highest compliments and utmost honors, Bay Colony Antiques is extremely proud to offer for sale this fantastic late 18th / early 19th century antique Mahogany bow front dresser. We’ve been bothered by not having as many bow fronts in our inventory because they’ve always been a fundamental part of our business. We’ve encountered a fair amount, but not many that we felt were worthy of offering to our clients. Our patience has paid off and we’re very excited to offer this to our clients around the globe. The chest has a spectacular presence and the Mahogany used for the faces represents the absolute highest grade of the imported wood. The drawers have a variegated wood line inlay around the edges with cut out corners and embossed brass pulls. The chest has elongated French feet with a scalloped apron further decorated with a complex geometric inlay. The drawers are constructed with blind dovetails and have New England White Pine secondaries. The uppermost drawer is compartmentalized, and the brasses appear to be original as the faces have not been re drilled. The chest is in very good condition with our only notes being minor surface wear & a couple of well-done veneer repairs. The chest measures 41 1/2” wide x 24” deep x 39 1/8” tall. This is without a doubt one of the finest and most noteworthy bow fronts we’ve encounter in quite some time and would recommend this without hesitation to even our most discriminatory collectors.
