18TH CENTURY ANTIQUE GEORGIAN PERIOD CHIPPENDALE MAHOGANY BUTLERS / WRITING DESK

Thank you for shopping with Bay Colony Antiques. We're a third generation family owned business furnishing homes all over the world. We aggressively pursue important antiques, decorative arts, and objects of interest for our most discerning clients.

We're pleased to offer for sale this exceptional late 18th / early 19th century antique George III period Chippendale writing desk. The desk is crafted from old growth Carribbean mahogany with yew secondary wood. The desk retains it's original locks & escutcheons but didn't come to us with a key. Most locksmiths can fabricate a key for about 10 - 20 dollars. The drawers are cock bead molded with a full length butlers section over two half drawers. The butlers section opens to reveal 5 interior drawers with impossibly small master cut dovetails. The brass hinge mechanism holds tight and is free from damage. These were made for small English homes and are really nice for our clients in spatially limiting cities. The desk measures 39" wide x 19" deep x 35 1/4" tall.
