Bay Colony Antiques is proud to offer for sale this exceptional 17th century antique oak joint stool. Even in the 18th century chairs were still quite expensive and most households used small joined stools like this one. The stool has nice bulbous turnings and is joined together with tenons and pegs at the top, the table box, and the stretcher. This is a very nice example that’s extremely well made which is probably why it’s still around and in such great condition. This stool is decorated heavier than most with a molded seat box, carved apron, & chip carvings in a sunburst pattern on the scrolled out sides. The stool measures 18 1/4” wide x 11 1/4” deep x 21 1/2” tall.
