19TH CENTURY ANTIQUE SHERATON PERIOD NEW ENGLAND CHERRY & BIRDS EYE MAPLE BUTLERS DESK
Thank you for shopping with Bay Colony Antiques. We're a third generation family owned business furnishing homes all over the world. We aggressively pursue important antiques, decorative arts, and objects of interest for our most discerning clients.
With our highest compliments we're proud to offer for sale this exceptional 19th century antique Sheraton cherry & birds eye maple butlers desk. This is a fantastic New England chest, most likely New Hampshire, crafted from select cuts of cherry & stunning birds eye maple used in the interior. The chest has a large upper butlers section that folds down on brass supporting arms. The interior features 6 solid birds eye maple drawers, and a valence door that opens to an additional 2 birds eye maple drawers. The chest is decorated with fully formed carved columns, recessed panel sides, & tall nicely turned legs. At some point in the desks life the brasses were swapped for sandwich glass pulls and the locks were removed from the chest. We were given the locks when we purchased this but forgot to install them for the photos but rest assured we have them. We've been so busy with new inventory this was just a small detail that slipped our mind. The desk measures 43" wide x 23 1/2" deep x 45 1/2" tall.
