Bay Colony Antiques is pleased to offer for sale this wonderful pair of Walnut armchairs with black leather cushioned backs. The chairs are signed with a Milwaukee Chair Company decal on the back of the seats. The company was founded in 1889 and quickly became one of the biggest employers and producers of furniture in the area. The original factory was destroyed in the 1899 fire but like a phoenix from the ashes they rose again. The company continued to produce furniture until they eventually closed their doors in the mid 20th century. Milwaukee Chair Company furnished countless libraries, offices, & schools throughout the country, and a century later the chairs look almost as good as they did new which is a true testament to their high level of craftsmanship.
If you’ve been in the market for elegant yet durable seating for your home, law, or medical office we’d recommend these chairs without hesitation. The shaped saddle seats and cushioned backs make them a very comfortable pair. The chairs are in very good condition with our only notes being minor surface wear & some light scuffs to the leather but no holes or rips. The chairs measure 23 1/4” wide x 25 1/2” deep x 33 1/4” tall. The seats measure 19 1/4” wide between the arms x 19” deep with an 18” seat height.
