Bay Colony Antiques is pleased to offer for sale this fantastic 18th century antique Queen Anne New England ladder back chair. The chair has a 3 slat back with turned finials and the old scribe marks can be seen where the slats meet the stiles. The seat is in very fine condition considering its age with only minimal loss but nothing that impedes use. While not the most sophisticated piece of furniture, country furniture like this is an important area of early American decorative arts. A simple turned chair like this was easier to produce and would be more affordable to families in the community. The chair measures 19 1/2” wide x 14” deep x 38 3/4” tall with a seat height of 16”.
