Bay Colony Antiques is proud to offer for sale this fantastic late 19th century antique Sheraton style 2 drawer worktable / nightstand. The table was at some point sold by A.L Diament & CO which was established in 1885 in Philadelphia. Philadelphia was home to a number of institutional level cabinet makers in the 18th century such as Thomas Affleck, William Savery, & many more. At the turn of the 19th century these cabinet makers were reaching the end of their careers and the duty of furnishing the homes of Philadelphia’s elite fell to new talent like Anthony Quervelle, Charles White, Michel Bouvier, Joseph Barry, Thomas Cook, Richard Parkin, & many more. The table has an A.L Diament label which was a firm that provided domestic & imported goods to their wealthy clientele. The company is still in business today but has diverted their focus to wallpaper and other decorative arts. The table has two drawers fitted with their original brass pulls that are cute as a button. Solid Walnut boards were used for the drawer faces & the table has paneled sides. The table is in excellent condition with our only notes being minor surface wear. The stand measures 18 3/4” wide x 14 1/2” deep x 28 1/4” tall.
