Bay Colony Antiques is proud to offer for sale this fantastic early 20th century Antique Oak 4 drawer file cabinet. The file was made by the Weis Furniture Company and retains its original Weis decal above the drawers. When grading antique files, we like to first look at the construction. Examples with paneled sides and paneled backs will always command a premium over ones with flat sides. It’s also important to consider the grade of the lumber and whether the file is solid or veneered. The Quarter sawn Oak used for the file possess a very bold grain with large vibrant rays on just about every surface. Each of the four drawers are solid Oak so there’s no need to worry about any veneer issues now or in the future. The condition of the file is also important, the file retains its original factory finish that is in remarkable condition after over a century of use. Each drawer operates smoothly and retains their original brass pulls, index card holders, & file rods. This is a letter size file, and the drawers have useable dimensions of 12 1/4” wide x 23 3/4” deep x 10 5/8” tall. The overall dimensions of the cabinet are 16 1/4” wide x 27” deep x 52” tall. The cabinet is in wonderful condition with our only notes being a few dry spots on the right side and some minor surface wear, mainly to the top.
