With our highest compliments and utmost honors, Bay Colony Antiques is extremely proud to offer for sale yet another monumental 20th century king size four post bed. This is without a doubt one of the most impressive beds we’ve ever handled and applaud the cabinet maker who made this. This is not a mass produced bed, this is a bench made piece that was designed for a grand home and worked on by a master carver. The bed was crafted from select cuts of Cherry and has a beautiful medium-red finish that’s in very good condition. The bed has a scrolled headboard with bullseye carvings on the ears. The posts command attention and are heavily carved with crisp details. The bed accepts a standard split king foundation and is solid as a rock. The bed has embossed brass bolt covers to hide the hardware & we thought it was interesting that the cabinet maker drilled holes into the horizontal transitions to perfectly imitate a period rope bed. The rails sit pretty low to the ground which is especially nice for anybody with joint problems or our senior clients. The bed can be completely broken down into 10 separate components (1 headboard, 4 posts, 2 horizontal rails, 3 vertical rails) which makes the bed easy to transport and move into your home. High quality king beds are becoming increasingly harder to find and we recently sold the last two we had in stock so we’re very happy to have found this one to offer our clients. The bed is in very good condition with our only notes being minimal surface wear. Please measure your ceiling height before purchasing, the posts are 87 3/4” tall. The overall dimensions of the bed are 82” wide x 90” deep x 87 3/4” tall.
