19TH CENTURY ANTIQUE SET OF 6 SHERATON FANCY PAINT DINING CHAIRS
Bay Colony Antiques is proud to offer for sale this fantastic set of 6 19th century antique Sheraton fancy paint dining chairs. The chairs were repainted, probably around the 70’s or 80’s, in an earthen brown color with yellow, green, & black accents. The crests are decorated with a stenciled bird design surrounded by a fruit or nut bearing plant. The original brown grain paint can be seen under the new paint and from what we can see it bears a resemblance to painted surfaces you’d usually find in Northeastern New York or Vermont. The chairs are nice and sturdy and are quite comfortable thanks to the saddle seats & splay of the back. The chairs are in great condition with our only notes being a discoloration to the stenciling on the back left chair, minor paint loss, and a repair to one crest only visible from the back that was over painted with a grey color. The chair on the back right has a little more paint loss on the seat and the chair with the repaired crest is the one in the back middle & the same one shown in picture 11 showing the original paint decoration underneath. The chairs are all nice & sturdy and would be perfect for somebody looking for a heartier set for their family & friends. The chairs measure 17" wide x 19" deep including the splay of the back (15 1/2" at base) x 34" tall with a 17 1/2" seat height.
