20TH CENTURY ANTIQUE ARTS & CRAFTS / MISSION OAK GUSTAV STICKLEY MAHOGANY WRITING DESK ~ NO. 720

Thank you for shopping with Bay Colony Antiques. We're a third generation family owned business furnishing homes all over the world. We aggressively pursue important antiques, decorative arts, and objects of interest for our most discerning clients.

Bay Colony Antiques is proud to offer for sale this fantastic early 20th century antique mahogany writing desk by Gustav Stickley. We’ve attached a picture from the original catalog showing this desk, #720, at an original price of $22.50. Stickley primarily worked with quarter sawn oak but custom orders and different wood species were available for a few extra dollars. These were usually stamped inside the drawer but we couldn’t find a makers mark on this. The desk has the production number of 720 written on the back of the drawer and a “1” stamped below the left drawer and a “2” stamped below the right drawer. The drawers retain their original craftsman brass pulls and the drawers have a nice old alligatoring on the finish. The desk is in great condition with our only notes being two small drawers missing from the upper cabinet, 2 age splits where the boards of the top are joined, a repair to the right corner of the top, and a small wood loss on the bottom right corner of the right drawer. We'll have our restorer take off the top and close the splits under clamp but we'll leave it up to the end buyer if they want him to touch in the bottom of the right drawer. The desk measures 38" wide x 23 1/4" deep x 37" tall. The height at the work surface is 29 3/4" tall and the drawers measure 14" wide x 17 1/2" deep x 2 1/2" tall.
