Bay Colony Antiques is proud to offer for sale this exceptional 19th century antique Pennsylvania Sheraton Cherry & Tiger Maple dresser / chest of drawers. The chest has a very practical layout with two small drawers at the top above a large overhung drawer, and 3 standard drawers below. The chest is in wonderful condition with our only notes being minor surface wear and a slight mellowing to the finish. The chest has single paneled sides and a double paneled back and the drawers are constructed with hand cut dovetails and hand chamfered bottoms. We purchased this from a southern estate but are fairly confident it was made in the Western PA / Ohio area. Our favorite aspects of the chest are the unique columns flanking the drawers and the bold Tiger Maple boards used for the drawer faces. The drawers actuate with ease and are nice & clean, ready to accommodate a large wardrobe. From a design standpoint the chest is “overbuilt” like most Pennsylvania furniture. This chest was built to last & will hold up phenomenally to daily use. The chest measures 42 1/2” wide x 23 1/2” deep x 51 1/4” tall.
