20TH CENTURY ANTIQUE TIGER OAK L & JG STICKLEY DESK ~ MODEL #529

Bay Colony Antiques is delighted to offer for sale this fantastic early 20th century antique Tiger Oak Arts & Crafts / Mission Oak desk by L & JG Stickley. The desk is in an old, likely original surface and is in fantastic condition with our only condition note being minimal surface wear. We’ve attached a photo from L & JG Stickley’s catalog showing this desk, model #529, for your convenience. This desk is very similar to models 530, 531, & 532 with the only difference being different sizes and 532 having two drawers. The desk has paneled sides & back and is constructed with tenons & pegs. The rail below the drawer has a subtle bevel to the edge and we just wanted to point it out because it's easy to overlook but it adds to the congruity and overall design of the piece. The desk is solid as a rock and is a true testament to just how well they were constructed.

These were usually stamped inside the drawer but we couldn’t locate the makers mark. We knew the desk was Stickley right away and even more so when we saw the hammered pulls. Original Stickley catalogs are quite collectible because people who own the furniture like to have the paperwork but they can be easily found online in public collections. We’ve handled thousands of the prolific cabinet making families pieces and have found a great home for every single one. The desk measures 42” wide x 28” deep x 29 1/4” tall.
