Bay Colony Antiques is proud to offer for sale this exceptional 18th century antique Chippendale side chair with Spanish feet. Spanish feet, like trifid feet, can be found in a number of different carving patterns. They all follow the same general flared trapezoidal design but there are many different variations. These Spanish feet are well executed but aren’t overly ambitious of a design. They have nice definition between the toe curls and have flared pads at the feet and look great with the block turnings at the legs. The chair has a bulbous front stretcher with 3 more at the sides and back making the chair nice and sturdy. The chair exhibits good proportions and has an attractive Cupid’s bow crest and pierced splat. The rush seat is in great condition and this chair can be used daily as intended. We’re constantly being asked to offer more single chairs & pairs but they have to be worth the time & cost to ship around the country. We do get fantastic freight rates because of our volume discount but it simply doesn’t make sense to spend ~$200 to ship a $300 chair. The chair measures 19” wide x 19 1/2” deep x 40 3/4” tall with a seat height of 17”.
