With our highest compliments and utmost honors, Bay Colony Antiques is thrilled to bring to market this exceptionally rare diminutive Virginia walnut one drawer work table / nightstand. The stand has not been cut down and we know it was originally made this size because of the small ringlet before the button feet. This is a good size for a Bible box but was likely just made this size to be used as a bedside table for a low lying period bed. Plenty of 18th & 19th century beds were considerably lower than ones we're accustomed to today and would simply have a rope foundation with a mattress stuffed with horse hair or some other organic material. We could see this being a nice companion piece for our clients who work at period desks because it's light enough to move around the room and the 20 1/2" height would keep this right about waist level while working. The stand measures 22" wide x 15 1/2" deep x 20 1/2" tall. The drawer measures 16" wide x 10 1/8" deep x 2 1/2" tall.
