Bay Colony Antiques is proud to offer for sale this exceptional 8.5 foot tall Victorian Walnut bookcase. The bookcase has incised carvings on the side and stiles and has a nicely carved crown with a sawtooth and fleur de lis design. We chose to leave the background through the glass in our photo with the doors open to try to show off the properties of the glass. The doors retain their old original wavy glass with nice rippling and pitting that add to the cabinet’s charm. The bookcase has 7 adjustable shelves and is nice and clean ready to house a large library. Those who follow us know we’re no stranger to large antiques and we have the ability to offer and ship very large and delicate items that our contemporaries can’t handle. We recently purchased a 15 foot mirrored hall tree and are always on the hunt for monumental cabinets like this one. This could be easily converted into a rifle cabinet with one piece of wood added to the base to accept stocks and another notched piece of wood to accept the barrel or receivers. The bookcase is in fantastic condition with our only condition notes being the lock has been removed. The bookcase measures 43 1/4” wide x 14 1/2” deep (11” @ base) x 102” tall.
