Bay Colony Antiques is proud to offer for sale this fantastic pair of antique Federal Tiger Maple side chairs. The chairs were crafted from bold grain Curly Maple and have cane seats that are free of any damage. The best cuts of Tiger Maple were used for the crest & splat with heavy figuring in the grain. The crest and splat are curved which make the chairs comfortable & they have generous proportions which make the chairs nice & sturdy. The stiles transition from flat to round with a series of ringlet carvings right below the transition. The rear legs are continued from the stiles and the front legs feature a more sophisticated turning pattern with matching ringlet carvings & small button feet. The chairs are in very good condition with our only notes being minor surface wear & metal brackets were added to the rear legs to further strengthen the chairs. The chairs measure 18” wide x 17” deep x 34” tall with a 17 1/2” seat height.
