LATE 18TH / EARLY 19TH CENTURY ANTIQUE SHERATON PERIOD CHERRY LADIES SECRETARY DESK
Thank you for shopping with Bay Colony Antiques. We're a third generation family owned business furnishing homes all over the world. We aggressively pursue important antiques, decorative arts, and objects of interest for our most discerning clients.
With our highest compliments we're proud to offer for sale this exceptional 18th century antique Sheraton period ladies secretary desk. This is a nice cherry desk with strong figuring and complex inlay patterns. We strongly feel this is a Connecticut desk with an emphasis on the Hartford River Valley but to be fair the form was used throughout New England. The desk stands on tapered reeded legs with two base drawers and a flip down writing section. The upper section has a hidden lift top built into the crown with double tambour doors below. These photos were taken at the estate opposed to our own facility so the lighting was a little inconsistent. We note a small finish loss on the front foot we'll have corrected before this is sent out. Good ladies secretary desks like this are becoming harder to find by the day but nobody sees and handles more period furniture than us. The desk measures 35 1/2" wide x 18" deep x 45" tall. When the top is flipped open the height is 55" tall. The height at the writing surface is 29 1/2" tall.
